چکیده

‘Modern methods of construction’ is a term largely synonymous with the prefabrication product components in factories. Emerging technologies, e.g. robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), are redefining concept modern construction destabilising structure sector to meet conditions their implementation. Robotics machine-based automation, for example, expected transform manufacturing techniques rapid significant ways, but extent change associated impacts on organisations, supply chains business models that constitute remains unknown. Existing foresight dominated by trajectorial perspectives overemphasise technological predictions underemphasise contextual stories implementation most helpful understanding technology adoption. An alternative approach presented here focuses storytelling, design scenarios visual images used help convey these scenarios. These allow practitioners explore how automation may play out different characterisations industry. The research involved analysis an existing dataset create four scenarios, before adapting extending through participatory workshops interviews. Project participants were comprised seven small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) architectural fabrication, one tier 1 contractor, two acclaimed industry experts from advisory board education centre. Four future where as usual described. As often-overlooked stakeholder, SMEs centre development process. Each has dominant player centre: contractors, SME cooperatives, software vendors original equipment manufacturers, government. illustrate potential non-technological innovations resolve them (e.g. model modification, opportunities contractual relationships), co-constructed professionals.

Building Attack Scenarios through Integration of Complementary Alert Correlation Method

Several alert correlation methods were proposed in the past several years to construct high-level attack scenarios from low-level intrusion alerts reported by intrusion detection systems (IDSs). These correlation methods have different strengths and limitations; none of them clearly dominate the others. However, all of these methods depend heavily on the underlying IDSs, and perform poorly when...

Building Educational Technology Partnerships Through Participatory Design

IntroductIon Educational technology provides many examples of how efficient software development and deployment is not enough. Teachers work in a complex and dynamic context in which measurable objectives and underlying values collide on a daily basis. Traditionally, teachers work in isolation from their peers; individual teachers have well-established personal practices and philosophies of edu...

Teaching IT through storytelling

This article explores the use of storytelling as part of an overall approach to the teaching of information technology in tertiary education. The author defines the context of use of storytelling in terms of the various types of education being delivered and the delivery methods, and then explores the potential uses and benefits of storytelling. A sample story is included and briefly analysed t...

Low Latency Synchronization Through Speculation

Synchronization between independently clocked regions in a high performance system is often subject to latencies of more than one clock cycle. We show how the latency can be reduced significantly, typically to half the number of clock cycles required for high reliability, by speculating that a long synchronization time is not required. The small number of synchronization metastability times lon...
